Once Mr. Demuro gets the stinger he might realize that its a lift back, meaning that there isn’t a federal requirement in the US to have an escape latch since the boot and the cabin share a single space.
However, the Kia does have a latch in the trunk, the fuel cap release:
I can imagine the script
“Many of you know that all cars need to have a safety latch in the trunk in case you become trapped, but the stinger here is a liftback, meaning it doesn’t posses a latch, or does it?”
How did the car behave today? Like a child. It’s still angry at me that I’m trying to keep it under the magic 4000 rpm number and it also hates me for being such a slow driver. It felt quite agile in traffic and I was, once again, tailgated today.
I think its just something you get used to.

Eh, priorities. On the assumption that I’m not the one locked in the trunk, I’d take a manual fuel filler release given the choice, too.

I’ve kinda stopped liking his videos as much. For modern cars, it seem like he just wants to complain about options that aren’t there at x price point. In the Demon video, I stopped watching at the thing about forward collision warning in a car that costs 100k. Most Demon buyers really aren’t buying it for daily driver safety and convenience doug.
Sorry. I’m done with my rant. Also, I’m really interested to see how the stinger pans out for kia. It’s certainly a cool car and I want to see it do well.

I guess this release is meant for dead batteries or something. which to me still seems odd.

Its fine, he can sometimes get on my nerves too.
He’s got quite a noticeable style. And I guess the FCA didn’t place a FCW system for some reason... which reason it is I do not know.

Hatches are always better. A more hatch shape would have yielded more room inside, but something...something...Americansarestupid...something...something.

When it’s electric you don’t. I have two cars with fuel doors that pop electrically and it’s freaking terrifying. What happens if the battery or solenoid dies?

Literally every car I’ve sat in with an electric switch did not have a release.
It seems like a great idea! But I’ve never seen it before, thus my amusement

He’s gonna make a huge fuss about it. If he made a big fuss about FCA parts sharing on the Maserati Ghibli, then he will call this a quirk or a feature.
Let the dollas roll in!

I haven’t seen a manual release, either. That’s why mine are particularly terrifying.
This is a really smart thing to add.

I never thought about it.
Apparently the WK2 does have it , it just isn’t as elegant as the Kia’s solution.

I swear that Trump came to our lives to wreck havoc. I don’t care about him at all but he seems to be basically controlling my country’s currency depending on his twitter mood.
I feel happy that he is literally not my president, even if Peña Nieto isn’t exactly a genius either.

On behalf of the USA, I apologize. Trump is totally insane. His “wall” idea is the dumbest thing ever.

I found a leaked script of Doug’s forthcoming ‘Here’s why this Kia is worth $40,000' video.
THIS is the two-thousand-and-eighteen Kia Stinger GeeTee.
It is a KIA that costs FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS. I know you may be asking - “but Doug, no one would buy a Kia for FORTY THOUSAND dollars”. Well this one comes with an UNLIMITED MILEAGE, BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY and it is not a Maserati Ghibli haha xd.
Today we will be looking at all its QUIRKS AND FEATURES. For more of thoughts check out my column at...
<15 minutes of quirks later>
Many of you know that all cars need to have a safety latch in the trunk in case you become trapped, but the Stinger here is a liftback, meaning it doesn’t posses a latch, or does it?
Well, you get a fuel release hatch, so good luck escaping out there hahahahahaBUYMYBOOKIT’SCALLEDPLAYSWITHCARShahahaha.
Final Doug score is 59.7.

If the battery is dead, why would you need to add gas?

It was Eric that made it.
Perhaps its too promient (the lever) for normal use, I suspect it will mostly end up having supermarket bags getting caught on it.

I did not see that. I’m trying to remember how the Z06 worked. It had a button in the center console to pop the lid, but I don’t think I ever had a dead battery, so I don’t know. I’m pretty sure there’s a pull tab hidden somewhere. On my MINI, there was a pull tab under the seat cushion of the rear to pop the trunk, even though it was a hatch, since it was electric, and the battery was located in the trunk.

My c6z has a tab in the hatch to manually open the fuel door. It also has one to open the drivers door. ‘09
